From Bus Station
From the bus station it's just 10min walk up the small hill (Vuolteenkatu street) and you are basically here. Take the brigde that goes over the rails and continue about 200 metres. When you see the University main building on your right, take a left turn to Yliopistonkatu street, walk this street for one block, and turn again left to Åkerlundinkatu street. On the right you find the entrance of Dream Hostel Tampere.
From Railway Station
From the railway station, take the underpass, go up the stairs and out from the doors on right. You'll see a supermarket called S-Market Pendoliino on your left hand side. Walk straight following the rails until you reach Åkerlundinkatu street on your left hand side (you'll pass a scary looking black tower first). At the end of this street, on the left hand, you find the entrance of Dream Hostel Tampere. It shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes, even with luggage! A picture tells a thousand words so have a look at Google Maps too.
From Tampere-Pirkkala Airport
There is an international airport in Tampere. Tampere-Pirkkala Airport is 17 km southwest of the city centre of Tampere. The bus line 1 runs regularly between the airport (Lentoasema in Finnish) and the centre of Tampere. For timetables, routes and other information, please click here. The airport taxi to the city centre costs about € 17. A regular taxi to the city centre costs around € 30-35. The bus 1 stops on both stations (Bus station=> Linja-autoasema and Railway Station => Rautatieasema), so you can decide which one you prefer. The railway station is probably slightly closer to Dream Hostel than the bus station, but both of them are within walking distance.
Follow the signs to Tampere-talo (Tampere Hall). We are located right on the other side of the road infront of Tampere Hall! If you have a GPS with you, use our adress: Åkerlundinkatu 2, 33100 Tampere, Finland.
Flights to Helsinki arrive at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (about 20 km from the city centre of Helsinki). Those landing in Helsinki can take the Finnair bus (the fare is € 6-7) to the Railway Station in Helsinki, then a train to Tampere. Trains run nearly every daytime hour and a single ticket costs € 25-35, depending on the train selected. However, it might be most convenient to take a bus from the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport to Tampere: buses (Express bus) leave in front of the terminal. A single ticket costs about € 25.
It is also possible to arrive in Finland by ferry from Stockholm, Rostock, St. Petersburg or Tallinn or by train from St.Petersburg and Moscow. For those arriving in Turku by ferry from Sweden, there is a direct train service available from the port. The journey from Helsinki or from Turku to Tampere takes about two hours (by train or by bus). Once in Tampere, the University Main Building is within walking distance from both the Railway Station and the Bus Station.
